The deadline for public comment on the draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) regarding the proposed gas-fired power plant next to Saldanha Steel was Thursday 25 Augustus. Very little public input was received and only 585 people registered as affected parties, which poses the question whether these notices ever reach the average man on the street and whether people are timeously and properly informed about the pros and cons of projects of these magnitude in order to give educated and informed feedback/input.
