On 25 August 2016 Gretha Bekker from Hopefield had a solo exhibition at the ART SQUARE studio/gallery at The Pumpkin House in Langebaan.
Gretha’s painting career started in 2006 with a rectangular piece of wood washed ashore at Gouritsmond; a set of Reeves acrylic paint in small tubes and two paint brushes. She is a self taught artist who often seeked the advice of established artists.
Gretha grew up in the Thabazimbi Bushveld region and has always
felt a connection with nature. At present she resides in Hopefield.
Her work ranges from portrait, street scenes, landscapes, mountains and basically anything that captures her eye. She has done many commissioned paintings and she is on a mission to paint as much of nature’s splendour as possible.
