While affected and interested parties only have tomorrow and Wednesday to raise their concerns/opinions about the proposed new phosphate mine of Adelaide Ruiters Mining and Exploration (ARME) near Vredenburg, the plot thickens as secrecy and confusion surround all phosphate mining activities along the West Coast.
While it is still unsure how/why the mining company Elandsfontein Exploration and Mining (EEM) was/is allowed to continue with its massive construction work at Elandsfontein despite an urgent pending Supreme Court case (photo attached) and without the necessary water licence and other permits, it seems as though another mining company has managed to resume with mining activities near the National Fossil Park without anybody even knowing about it? Who knows about Gecko Fert (Pty) LTD that used to be Gecko FEST? (Link attached).
Meanwhile EEM is now funded by KROPZ (an unregistered company?) while KROPZ International used to be Phosfanatio International . . . and it seems that none of these various mining companies suddenly springing up like mushrooms have ANY positive experience or claim to fame in any phosphate mining business? To add insult to injury, EEM or KROTZ or who ever they are, also plans a massive phosphate processing plant without anybody even knowing about it? Where is the application and environmental impact studies for a phosphate PROCESSING plant?
Please READ and voice your concern – something is VERY odd when secrecy and name changing leave the ordinary citizen and concerned parties in the dark? It seems as though even Gecko-Fest changed to Gecko Fert to add to the confusion?
Gecko Fert (Pty) LTD
Langfos is the only Organic Sedimentary
Rock Phosphate mined in South Africa
Langfos (P) 80-100g/kg was extensively mined from 1923 to 1994 and farmers who have used Langfos can still observe the positive effects it has in their lands.
In 2010 a new mine [Gecko Fert] was opened at Langebaanweg and is currently in operation and ready to place a firm footprint in the agricultural sector once again.
